Ban Chiang is best known for the beautiful pottery made by the ancient villagers, but there are many more types of artifacts that came from the site.  After two long field seasons, archaeologists had recovered literally tons of material to be analyzed.  This material included pottery, metal, stone, soil, charcoal, animal bone, and human skeletons.  Some of these materials, such as the crucibles, have been thoroughly analyzed; others, such as the rollers, contain mysteries still unsolved. The best preserved artifacts come from graves, but most of the pieces were found outside of burials and were lost or discarded in the course of daily life.
