A total of 142 burials were excavated in the two seasons of work at Ban Chiang. About 27% were younger than 15 years old. Among the adults, there were slightly more males than females.

The analysis of the skeletons (see Pietrusewsky and Douglas 2001) showed that the population was relatively healthy, at least as far as the skeleton was concerned. Dental cavities were few. There were no signs of trauma that could be linked to warfare.
