Description | Bull and wing-like triangular mounting cast in one piece. Also cast on same piece is a spool shaped handle attachment. The three arms of the "wings" may have been hammered out in part from a smaller flange. rivets at the apex of each arm of the mounting exactly match holes on cauldron frag. 67-39-1b. Semicircular raised forehead molding; eyes low round knobs surrounded by two concentric semi-circular moldings. Mouth shown by single frowning 1 line. Handle attachment has two raised moldings at either end. fine med. green patina, smooth, almost black in spots, especially on the muzzle. Hollow inside, exposed at back, filled with rough porus sandy core. color: gray to reddish. possibly with bits of iron oxide in it. |
