Description | Upper ornamented part of a black whistling jar, broken off. Handle and spout with whistle and figure of fruits and two animals. Stirrup necked jug fragment with an unknown body, no neck/collar, flattened rim, 1 stirrup handle, and an unknown base. There are two modeled monkeys with two possible fruits on the vessel. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is black and gray in color. The join of the handle with the body visible on bottom of the broken fragment. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the ceramic reads: "2729." |
