Description

Olpe. Handle and much of upper neck and lip missing and restored in plaster. Buff painted black. Reserved: underside of foot except for 2 concentric bands and a line in glaze; zone around lower wall; two broad zones around mid- and upper wall. Ray pattern in lower zone. In middle zone confronted sphinxes with a goose between. Behind right hand sphinx is, left to right, a panther, a goose, a bull, a lion. In upper zone, left to right from handle is a feline, a boar, a lion, and a goose. In field in both zones both dotted and incised rosettes.
