Description | Globular body with flat base; bulging neck; two vertical loop handles on body. Painted in red-white-black. similar to 26989 Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, bulging neck, rounded rim, 2 strap handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is painted with two bands of geometric designs around the shoulder in white, black, red, and purple. Painted around the rim with a band of geometric design in white and black. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior and a smoothed finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1566." |
