Description

Ovoid aryballos fragment. Profile section, base to upper wall. Hard buff clay. Surface slipped. Decoration in adherent black glaze. Edge of base glazed. Wall, bottom to top: 2 broad wheel-painted bands; 4 wheel-painted lines; zone of animals: back leg and front part of quadruped (probably a hare), a "Z" in the space between the animal and tail (?) and back leg of next in frieze; 3 wheel-painted lines. Exterior surface blackened, presumably by fire. "H" in pencil on interior.
