Description | Tibetan translation of the Great Vehicle Sutra of [the Buddha] of Immeasurable Life (Aparimitāyur-nāma-mahāyānasūtra). The accompanying Chinese description implies that the manuscript came from Cave 17, Dunhuang 敦煌. The contents of the Tibetan text, and the physical appearance of the manuscript, compared with the many other copies of this sutra translation known to come from Dunhuang, are in keeping with its identification as a 9th century manuscript from Cave 17. It concists of the three pages, the first two are part of a sutra in Sanskrit and the third is the colophon in Chinese. |
