Description

Painted. The bottle somewhat resembles Chinese vases because of the peculiar shape of its ears. Pear shaped body, long slightly flaring neck, lugs of flat three lobed vertical stripes of clay. Pierced and set in shoulders.

Narrow-necked jar/bottle with an ovate body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 2 curvilinear handles on the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. the handles are a three lobed curvilinear shape. The vessel is painted with vertical bands of orange and white outlined in black. There are additional black lines painted on the rim and handles. The handles are curvilinear with three lobes and a hole through the center. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "1204."
