Description | This type of basket is still available at Bogyoke Market, Rangoon(1998). Large decorative woven basket with flat lid and large handles. Both lid and basket have black strands woven in to form pattern of alternating hexagons and hour glass shapes. Main strands are natural. Rim of basket is two bamboo rods held together with coil style wrap. Base is tight coil resting on top of circular bamboo rod nailed to base. Cross rods of bamboo support the bottom of the basket. Lid rim is tight wrapped coils around circular bamboo rods. Lid is hinged and has pin/hoop latch. |
