Description | Two pieces. a:detachable head. Has fine smooth finish and is entirely painted. Background of white for skin (much worn off) with red hair. (Right side part indicated in carving) Orange-red open mouth and tongue, nostrils and ears. Upper lip decoration (mustache?) eyes and brows are black. Square stem of wood left beneath head to fit into hole in top of neck on body. b: Body has almost as smooth a finish. Has a huge dis-tended abdomen which is hollow and has shaped opening in upper half. The hands are pressed to body just below this. Legs are flexed to either side as if squatting. Thin round platform beneath. Body and stand painted red except for white hands. Bad split off center in back and front. Mended with strips of metal and nails (but has resplit in front). |
