The Penn Museum joins in the celebration of Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt, coming to The Franklin Institute June 5, 2010 through January 2, 2011 with a discounted Double Ticket.
At the Penn Museum, where Egyptologists have been making discoveries since the late 1800s, you can experience 5,000 years of Egyptian civilization presented on two gallery floors. Just in time for Cleopatra, the Penn Museum offers a self-guided tour and downloadable podcast that explores the long tradition of pharaonic rule that ended, forever, with the suicide of Cleopatra in 30 BCE.

Lost to sand and sea for nearly 2000 years, the fascinating world of Cleopatra resurfaces in this world premiere exhibition. Produced by the same team that captivated Philadelphia and the nation with King Tut in 2007, Cleopatra: The Search for the Last Queen of Egypt includes more than 100 remarkable treasures from her reign, many of which have been recovered from her incredible royal palace, sunk in the Mediterranean some 1600 years ago. From the smallest gold pieces to colossal 15-foot tall statues, to the black granite statue of the queen pulled from the sea… her mystery unfolds before us.
As part of your ticket to see Cleopatra at The Franklin Institute, you will also have the opportunity to explore all three floors of the museum’s interactive exhibitions, including the brand new Changing Earth and Electricity exhibitions, and old favorites like The Giant Heart and Train Factory. Also included is one show in the Fels Planetarium.*
*Included in admission from 9:30 am - 4:30 pm.
