Description

"

In spite of their Hollywood image, mummies have been more helpful than horrifying to archaeologists. While mummification was essentially a religious activity to ensure the deceased's success in the afterlife, it is also an example of ancient science.

This event is free and open to the public. Contact Carolyn DuBois at the Abington Township Public Library for more information.

The Outreach lecture Program is funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. Please visit our Commonwealth Lecture Program page for more information.
