Dr. Christina Luke, Boston University
Early travelers noted the rich environs of the lake and romanticized the hundreds of burial mounds in Bin Tepe as well as the ruins of Sardis. Today Bin Tepe is a first class protection zone and constitutes the largest protected archaeological landscape in Turkey. Yet, its archaeological heritage represents only one part of the story. Free admission.
