World Culture Afternoon
17th Annual Peace around the World: Passport to Cultures

It's time to get into the holiday spirit! Gather family and friends and head over to the Penn Museum for a FREE holiday celebration! The lively afternoon features a Middle Eastern drumming workshop, a fusion dance workshop, a poetry reading and workshop, an Indian dance performance, storytelling, a choir performance, exotic facepainting, balloon art, international family crafts, and free treats for children!

FacePainting copyVisitors receive a “Passport to Cultures” with an itinerary to visit galleries where Penn Museum International Classroom speakers share holiday traditions of their home countries. Write Japanese and Chinese symbols in calligraphy, place a wish on a Wishing Tree in a distinctly Hong Kong New Year tradition, or get your palm decorated with mhendi, a henna tattoo featuring ceremonial art designs!
