Inside Mummy Conservation
The Museum’s new exhibition In the Artifact Lab: Conserving Egyptian Mummies features a conservator taking up residence in a glass-enclosed laboratory to protect, restore, and preserve more than 30 Egyptian artifacts including at least three mummies from our famed collection. Dr. David Silverman, Eckley Brinton Coxe Professor of Egyptology and Curator-In-Charge of the Museum’s Egyptian Section, and Molly Gleeson, Project Conservator, discuss the significance of the collection and mummies being conserved, as well as the progress of the conservation. A light breakfast follows. RSVP by November 30 by calling 215.898.5093 or emailing membership@pennmuseum.org.
