The Registrar's Office of the Penn Museum, established in 1929, is instrumental in developing and implementing the Museum's collections policies and procedures pertaining to acquisitions, loans, traveling exhibitions, deaccessions, records management, collections database management, university class access to collections, collections fine arts insurance and risk management, cross-departmental collections projects, integrated pest management (IPM), and various collections-related services for staff and the general public.
The Registrar's Office houses object-specific records, including object catalogue cards, object files, and accession lot records, as well as some event-related documentation. To access collections information, please begin with our Online Collections Database. To request additional information, please contact us and include object accession numbers or relevant collections information in your request.
Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. We accept visitors by appointment only and encourage all visitors to make an appointment at least one week in advance. The subject of research (object accession number and/or special collection) should be specified when requesting an appointment.
