Hongying is a PhD student from China who is a research assistant with Kathleen Johnson at UC-Irvine. Her research focuses on analyzing the age and composition of speleothem samples collected from Luang Prabang caves during MMAP 2010 and 2013. MMAP Season: 2013

Since 2005, The Middle Mekong Archaeological Project (MMAP) has excavated and surveyed numerous sites along the Mekong and its tributaries around Luang Prabang in northern Laos, with the goal of investigating early human settlement of the Mekong Valley. As of early 2010, 84 historic and prehistoric sites have been recorded and four sites have been excavated.
