Welcome to MMAP 2005

Welcome to the website of the Middle Mekong Archaeology Project (MMAP), a project co-directed by Dr. Joyce C. White, Senior Research Scientist at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology.

In mid-March 2005, MMAP began its first exploratory survey along three Mekong River tributaries in Luang Prabang Province, Laos.

This website presents information about the month-long survey project, including postings on a web log while the MMAP team was in the field.

Acknowledgements

The 2005 Survey marked the beginning of the Middle Mekong Archaeological Project, a joint and collaborative effort of the University of Pennsylvania Museum and the Department of Museums and Archaeology (DOMA) in Laos.

This first field season was supported by grants from the National Geographic Society and the National Science Foundation.
