We’re on our way to a new Penn Museum—and this journey requires a few detours. Our Building Transformation will dramatically reconfigure our historic building. Some galleries might be offline and some artifacts might not be on display, but there will always be at least 30,000 square feet of gallery space to explore.

  • The Mexico & Central America Gallery and Africa Galleries are now closed for a year of renovations. We are reimagining these important galleries, adding new flooring, cases, lighting, and air-conditioning, and creating dynamic new displays.
  • We are working on creating new galleries for our renowned Egyptian collection. The Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery is now closed for conservation of monumental objects, but the Egypt (Mummies) Gallery remains open.
