Description | 3 breadths. Looks similar to a huipil from Guatemala. The 2 outside breadths are composed of red and white stripes interspersed with green and yellow stripes. There are light red threads in the weft causing a slight checkered design. The middle breadth is of solid red with 3 stripes of green and yellow. The shirt has a square hand finished neckline. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp central panel: 68 epi, two singles, Z twist, red, yellow and green cotton. Weft central panel: 26 ppi, two singles, Z twist, red and white cotton. Warp side panels: 64 epi, two singles, Z twist, red, white and yellow cotton, two ply green cotton. Weft side panels: 32 ppi, two singles, Z twist, red and white cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Three panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
