Description | White plain weave cotton huipil. Center panel is most heavily embroidered with two broad bands of green, red and blue zigzags. Red, blue and magenta triangular groupings and composite geometric forms fill in areas between bands. Side panels have the same geometric motifs but design more randomly distributed in same colors. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 30 epi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Weft: 22 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Warp predominantly plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced. Three panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
