Description | Disk foot; substantial stem. Globular body, its profile continous with that of broad neck. Over hanging lip, flat on top. Strap handles rising nearly vertically to a point well above lip and at a steep angle down to top of lip. A small rotelle at each side of the lower termination of the handles and a larger one at each side of the peak of each handle. Decoration in matte or dilute brown glaze on greenish buff ground. On one side in handle zone are three panels, a rosette in the central one, an upside-down palmette in each of the side panels. On the other side in the handle zone is a horizontal garland of leaves. Three wheel-glazed lines around point pf greatest circumference. On neck is a panel, on each side is a zone of quirks. On top of lip short lines radiate from the mouth. Vertical lines on handles. One handle broken off. |
