Description

Woman's cloth used to cover a basket or wrap tortillas. Red and white stripes with three compound stripes of green, lavender, dark blue and white. Broad, red, shadow cross stripe. Brocaded animal figures in red and leaves embroidered in pale blue, yellow and green cotton on each side of the compound stripe.

As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 34 epi, two singles, Z twist, red, white, green and yellow cotton. Single, Z twist, lavender, white and blue cotton ikat. Weft: 10 ppi, two singles, Z twist, red and white cotton. Warp faced plain weave. Supplementary weft is single faced. Two panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom."
