Description | Ceremonial, for church or wedding veil, white cotton in three pieces, lower half i shadow weave pattern, upper brocaded in floral design with two rows of small birds in violet cotton and gold silk, collar solidly embroidered with silk floral design in purple orange white and rose on gold ground. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 28 single ply, Z twist, strand, white cotton. Weft: 36, single ply, Z twist, 1 strand, white cotton. Balanced plain weave. 3 panels, 2 selvedges each. Made on a threadle loom." |
