Description | Exterior: below, two pairs of wheel-painted lines, differently spaced, on buff slip; above, broad, wheel-painted purple band over which white slip are thick glaze strokes suggesting perhaps a figured scene with animal feet. The interior has rather a rough surface completely covered with streaky glaze differing in quality from that on the exterior. Perhaps we are dealing with a closed vessel rather than open one and the glaze was merely introduced in liquid form through the neck and sloshed around. |
