Description | Huipil for a woman of lowest class. Red and white in alternating broad and narrow stripes. Obscure red cross stripes forming blocks. No randa. Neck cut out and hemmed. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 50 epi, two singles, Z twist, red and white cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white and red cotton. Warp is predominantly plain weave. Two panels, three selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
