Description

small red clay vessel with foot. Body square (or box) shaped

One footed Cooking pot (olla) with a square body, no neck/collar, flanged rim, 1 horizontal strap handle on the body, and a footed base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel has a raised curved design on the front painted red with two incised lines at either end. The rim is also painted red. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior and a burnished finish on the interior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2331."
