Description | Crudely carved in light-coloured wood. For type of face cf. AF5171: for treatment of eyes, AF 3675; of arms, fig. 455 in Annales de Musee du Congo, III, 1. Standing wooden anthropomorphic figure; oval shaped face; round eyes with a deep slit across the center, a second fraint groove underneath slit; long rectangular nose; closed mouth; faint hair line; crescent shaped ears; long cylindrical neck; rounded shoulders; arms bent, forming a box shape at sides with hands resting on the hips; long rectangular torso; protruding navel in the center of belly; defined chest and backside; legs are slightly bent; feet are flat on round base; rim of base is incised with vertical grooves; two thin metal tips protrude from bottom of the base directly under the feet; figure is dark brown in color. |
