Explore our Signature Galleries and Special Exhibitions

Many of the Museum’s most interesting objects are currently on display in our Signature and Special Exhibition galleries. Museum galleries are open for class visits during normal public hours (Tuesday-Sunday 10 am - 5 pm), or on Mondays and after hours by special request. While reservations are not required, we strongly recommend filling out our Request Form to ensure that the gallery is available. In addition to our ongoing Building Transformation, galleries may be unavailable due to scheduled maintenance or events, such as weddings or conferences. Once we ascertain that there are no existing conflicts for the space, we can reserve it for your class.

Gallery visits offer the most flexible format for professors, ranging from instructor-led activities such as tours or group activities to more self-guided ones such as scavenger hunts. Guided tours are available free of charge for Penn classes upon request (dependent upon staff availability). We recommend groups of less than 30 per tour guide. Tours are available for all our galleries and exhibitions, as well as several themed options, all of which can be found here.

Building Transformation

Parts of the Museum are currently under renovation. As we update our galleries and amenities to accommodate all visitors’ physical needs, elevator access is limited in parts of the building. Both Museum entrances (Kamin and Kress) are accessible, however, to move between these two areas of the building, visitors with difficulty using stairs will need to exit the Museum and re-enter through the other entrance. For more details or for assistance, please visit our Accessibility page or consult the Museum Map.
