Description | Wooden Katsina doll. The face is painted with the central portion green and curved areas around the bulging eyes painted red. One eye is damaged. The top and sides of the head are painted blue. A rooster's comb is carved over the top of the head and painted red with a black edge. The body is painted red and yellow and a kilt is painted around the waist. This figure is a variation of the Rooster (Takawe-e) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #82, Wright, B., 1973 #94) |
