Description

Sommerville: Carnelian. Intaglio. Hercules in repose beside a stag. Etruscan Seals, Scarabei, Intaglios, and Rings, Case FF.

Vermeule: Carnelian. Intaglio. Herakles seated to right., holding club on left knee or on rocks beside him., stag appears in front of him. Figure of Herakles copies an early Hellenistic statue which also appears on early IIIrd B.C. coins of Bactria. Graeco-Roman.
