Description | Rim Fragment of African Red-slip lion mortarium. Section of lip, keel rim (with lion spout) and upper wall. Eyes and mane of lion indicated by impressed concentric circles. Excellent, very hard red clay and glaze. A wheel-run groove around top surface of keel near outer edge and a pair of wheel-run grooves on wall on interior. |
