Description | Wall hanging in cotton and silk embroidery and mirror work (abla bharat or shisha) on dyed plain-weave cotton. Mostly embroidered in close herringbone stitch with chain stitch outlines. This is an example of kanbi (or kunbi) bharat ('work'). Ganeshtapana are a subset of Ganesha hangings that are pentagonal and often yellow. Irregularly shaped embroidered cloth decorated with mirrored glass and figures, animals, birds, and flowers. Threads are pink, purple, green, orange and beige on a mustard yellow background with black lining around the edges. Natural colored backing. Seven loops arounds the edges. See also. 89-13-371. |
