Description | One of a pair of duilian 對聯 (sometimes called “antithetical couplets” in English). These appear on either side of an entrance with various rules about matching syllables and meaning. See 29-96-765A for the other duilian. See 29-96-764 for the tribute board that goes above the entrance. The characters read: 聖朝錫類瑞氣熏騰 (The sage dynasty having granted its kindnesses, lucky vapors will spume and puff). |
