Description | Plain weave cotton. Two breadths joined by silk and cotton embroidery. Heavy ribbed weave. Red, white and blue ikat stripes. Overalll embroidery in cotton and silk thread. Stripes running through length create by groupings of chevrons, diamonds and elipses in lavender, pale yellow and blue. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 52 epi, two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Two singles, S twist, navy cotton and white and navy ikat cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, three singles, Z and S twists, white cotton. Two singles, S twist, navy cotton. Two singles, Z twist, red cotton. Warp faced plain weave. Supplementary weft is single faced. Two panels, three selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
