Sommerville: Onyx. A Roman Mask. (cinque-cento). Gold and Silver Rings - Cameos, Case NNN.

Vermeule: Onyx. Cameo. (Modern gilt ring setting) A mask-like head of a man, facing. The workmanship which is intended to be humorous is, as Sommerville states, of the 16th century.
