Description

Of 3 griffins, 2 heads badly abraded away. Knob on lid abraded. Wide ovoid body with relief dec: at gtst. diam; short wide neck. Conical lid with relief lotus petals, pendent. Three tall griffin heads stand up on shoulder. One of a pair with 3451. Inscription: Face A: CHIO, Face B: D, Face C: D. Dec. 1983: Somewhat similar solid marble vase found at APhrodisias.
