Description | Skirt woven in San Cristobal Totonicapan and traded once a year in the Solola market. Rose, yellow, green, dark blue, purple crosswise stripes. Some dark blue stripes woven in zigzag design with white and ikat. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 40 epi, singles, Z twist, indigo cotton. Weft: 40 ppi, single, Z twist, indigo, magenta, purple, green, indigo/white cotton. Two singles, Z twist, yellow cotton. Balanced plain weave with bands of indigo and white jaspe and yellow and indigo overshot pattern. Woven on a foot loom." |
