Description

Oval human face, on round peg. Wood, carved and painted. Open mouth with protruding tongue. Cowrie shell eyes. According to original label, it was "fastened" at the entrance of a hut "as a decoration." However, the peg at the bottom suggests that it might be a stopper for a large bamboo ceremonial flute.
