Description

Huipil worn on the head when going to church or as an extra covering. Three pieces with loosely sewn seams and sides not sewn. Neck not cut. Broad bands of gauze technique between bands of birds, animals and flowers in white on sheer white cotton.

As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 24 epi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Weft: 20 ppi, two singles, Z twist, white cotton. Basket weave and gauze weave bands. Supplementary weft is two faced. Three panels, four selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom."
