Description | double-edged, straight steel blade tapering to point; on each face of the blade near the socket is a rectangular plaque, one showing a bird, the other an animal, with excised background; at the top of each plaque is a deep circular depression from which a shallow groove extends to within about 4.5 cm. of the point; simple engraved scrolls from base of groove. Tang inserted through fluted bone grip wrapped at intervals with fine silver (?) wire; brass band at socket and brass cap. |
