Description | Polychrome lost color red ware, slipped and polished. Broad diagonal black bands. Lost scroll design. Flat base, flaring side. As per ANSP Ledger Remarks "A white argillaceous pigment used by the Aztecs has disappeared, leaving the marks upon the ground by deadening the polish or by removing portions of the underlying paste and slip - Holmes. Rept. Bureau. Ethnol. VI. p. 114." |
