Description | Woodblock print of battle scene from Sino-Japanese War of 1894-5. With the Japanese navy in the foreground, in the distance the Chinese ships are being hit by canon fire and their crew are shown jumping overboard. In the upper right hand corner an inscription in Japanese gives the title: "Japanese and Chinese Warships at Battle" and in the lower left hand corner the artist and publisher are given: Nobumasa and Kobayashi Shujiro. Triptych with three sheets of paper glued together. |
