Description | Flat, wooden Katsina cradle doll. The face is painted blue with a horizontal band of black with white squares from ear to ear. The ears themselves have stepped edges. The mouth is a protruding snout painted red and blue. The back of the head has alternating vertical stripes of red and white. The body is painted red and white with blue and yellow arms. This figure is likely the Crazy Rattle (Tuskiapaya) Katsina. (Colton, H. 1959 #258, Wright, B., 1973 #209) |
