Description | Bronze. Two rampant stylized winged dragons. Bodies separated. Gaping mouth. Long neck with short mane. Mounted on bottle base. Same relief on both faces. (For use, see 30-38-1. This is with 30-38-33 and 30-38-42). Legrain Publication: "Bronze mascot. Two rampant and winged dragons are facing each other. The figure is derived from a Babylonian original, but the elongated, distorted ornamental and elegant style is proper to Lustrian. The inner tube passed through a ring between the front and rear paws. The round eyes, nostrils, jaws, ears, bristling manes, curled tails are as usual. The short curled wings are curiously attached above the tails, not at the shoulders, more as a symbol and a useful piece to reinforce the slender snake-like bodies. Same relief on both sides. (30-38-52). 163 x 84 mm." |
