Description | Light wood, oval shaped. Double carved heads at both ends, one end set larger than other. Carvings probably represent parrot heads but beaks are broken off, all but one. Incised curvilinear designs and face markings on heads colored with orange pigment, mouths black, eyes on head in white (lime?). Bowl has traces of white paint. Is divided by a bar (shoulders?) with arms and hands; arms in full relief; hands, which probably represent wings, and shallow incisions colored orange. Bottom of bowl has a band of incised carving in a continuous set of curvilinear motifs, running lengthwise; incised portions are orange, raised ridges may have been white. Band of broken fibers around one end. |
