Description | Loom patterned strips, yellow, brown and green on dark red ground. Seamed at side? or central line? Inserted band (median?) between w. of 2 other breadths. Fragment. According to catalogue records, this is a fragment of a poncho. Three joins still visible. Edges are cut, so difficult to make out construction and where this would fall within a poncho. There is an aperture but cannot confirm if this is a neck aperture or arm hole. Supplementary weave strips with decorative pattern going in warp direction. Small (thin) stripes (bands) also going in warp direction. Interesting small bit (10cm x 4cm) of a totally different type weave added along seam. Color(s): Yellow, green, brown on a dark red ground. . |
