Vermeule: Carnelian. Intaglio. (Modern gold ring setting) Mars Victor standing to left, a shield in his lowered left hand, a spear held vertically in the right. Roman Imperial. The type copies the well-known cult statue in the temple of the Forum of Augustus completed in 2 B.C.
