Description

Iron hair ornament that attaches to a young girl's hair braid. V-shaped with a deep notch in the center. Both arms have a longitudinal ridge and terminate in a spiral with a hole at the center of the spiral. The hole would have likely been filled with an abalone shell inlay. The lower edge of each arm is somewhat thinned and the entire ornament bears similarities to Northwest Coast dagger pommels.

Length 8.6 cm
Width 9.8 cm
Credit Line Purchased from G. T. Emmons, 1916
